The tier 10 meta in 2026 – what has changed?
World of Tanks finds itself in an interesting balance in 2026: Wargaming has toned down several overpowered vehicles in recent patches while strengthening neglected classes. The result is a more varied meta than in previous years — but there are still clear favourites.
The overview below is based on current EU server data, which you can also view in real time on the WG-Watch.com meta page. The figures reflect the win rate and average WN8 of all players in those vehicles.
The best medium tanks
Object 279 early / Chieftain (reward tanks)
The strongest mediums in the game have for years been the hard-to-get reward tanks from Clan Wars and Ranked Battles. The Object 279 early combines brutal armour with solid mobility — a combination that is barely counterable in a random battle. The Chieftain scores with a superior turret and a precise gun.
Both vehicles are only reachable through serious Clan Wars play — not realistic for the average player. But when you see them, respect them.
STB-1 – the underrated all-rounder
The Japanese STB-1 has been one of the strongest tech tree mediums since its rework. Its hydraulic suspension allows aggressive hill positions other tanks simply cannot take. Combined with high alpha damage and solid mobility, it is versatile in almost any situation.
- Strengths: hill play, alpha damage, mobility
- Weaknesses: thin side armour, hard to reload under fire
- Suited to: aggressive medium tank drivers
Leopard 1 – precision at range
The German Leopard 1 is the sniper among the mediums. With the best accuracy at tier 10 and high mobility, it is ideal for players who prefer to operate at distance. Its weak armour does demand strict positional play, though.
- Strengths: best accuracy, high mobility, good gun depression
- Weaknesses: no armour, dies fast when you make mistakes
- Suited to: patient players with good map awareness
The best heavy tanks
Super Conqueror – the most solid heavy
The British Super Conqueror has been a mainstay of the meta for years. Excellent turret armour, high DPM and one of the most reliable gun platforms in the game make it the heavy of choice for many unicums. No other vehicle offers this much versatility in a heavy tank.
- Strengths: turret armour, DPM, gun handling
- Weaknesses: weak lower front plate, limited mobility
- Suited to: players looking for reliable performance
Object 277 – speed meets firepower
The Russian Object 277 is the fastest competitive heavy in the game. It can take positions other heavies cannot reach, and it pairs that with high alpha damage. Its only drawback: the armour is merely average for a heavy.
- Strengths: mobility, alpha damage, flexibility
- Weaknesses: weaker armour than other heavies
- Suited to: players who want heavy firepower with medium mobility
IS-4 after the rework
The IS-4 found a new reason to exist after its rework. Massively armoured at the front and with a solid gun, it is the ideal bunker heavy for tight city battles and flank defence.
The best tank destroyers
Strv 103B – the king of snipers
The Swedish Strv 103B is unique: with rock-solid armour in siege mode and extremely high DPM, it is a threat on open maps that is hard to counter. Being immobile while firing is its only real drawback.
- Strengths: highest DPM at tier 10, extremely good sniping armour
- Weaknesses: no turret, vulnerable in close quarters and on city maps
- Suited to: patient players, sniping enthusiasts
Object 268 Version 4 – the close-quarters monster
For more aggressive tank destroyer players, the Russian Object 268 V4 is a strong choice. Brutal frontal armour, good alpha damage and surprisingly good mobility for a tank destroyer.
Light tanks – the scouting kings
EBR 105 – love it or hate it
The French wheeled vehicle EBR 105 divides the community: you either love it or you hate it. With absurd top speed and good view range, it is the most active scout in the game. Used properly, it generates massive assisted damage for its team.
- Strengths: uncatchably fast, ideal view range, an assist damage machine
- Weaknesses: weak gun, dies quickly when caught
- Suited to: players with good map awareness and an appetite for risk
Which tier 10 should you play next?
Choosing the right tier 10 depends heavily on your personal playstyle. As a rough guide:
- Do you love precision and distance? → Leopard 1 or Strv 103B
- Do you want solid and versatile? → Super Conqueror or STB-1
- Do you love speed? → Object 277 or EBR 105
- Do you want to dominate city battles? → IS-4 or Object 268 V4
